JUST WHAT IS THE BOUTIQUE AT THE QUILT SHOW, WHAT DOES IT DO, AND HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Some of you, especially new members, may be wondering just what this Boutique thing is all about. Well, it started 3 shows ago as a way to raise money for the guild. Unfortunately, the first 2 years the show was rained out, so we didn’t make as much money as we would have liked. Last year was a little better, but maybe it was too hot?
Anyway, I have asked members to come to workshops, but that hasn’t been too successful so I am now issuing a creative challenge to all. There will be no more workshops (phew they said). Instead, you will find patterns on the blog for the extra large quilt tote, the luggage handle, the microwave bowl hot pad (a popular item), needlecases, Sue's Potato Bag, and, what I understand are super fun to make, pillowcases!
Other items which could get your creative juices flowing: placemats, mug rugs, potholders, coasters, pincushions, and tea towels. All you have to do is imagine it, search the internet, and voila, you will, no doubt find a pattern for it. Then dig into your stash (or you can come over to my house and help yourself to the stash I ‘pilfered’ from Community Quilts, or even go to the Community Quilts get together and find some), and go for it!
I am hoping you will be able to find some time to make items for the Boutique. All the money goes to support our Guild, provide speakers and workshops for our enjoyment. It all comes back to us in the end. Contact Judy for more info.
See the Boutique page for pattern downloads and links to tutorials.
