The Community Quilts Committee asked me to document their quilt distribution process in December. I was able to be there as they went through over 200 quilts that were stored in Diana Lawlis's closet. It was amazing to see them examine each quilt, checking size and style to determine where they would be best utilized. Each quilt was then placed in a designated pile for one of the eight charities for December distribution. Some charities only want quilts of a certain size or style, some want them only at the end of the year. Once they were divided up the committee went through each pile to note the number and size of each quilt that was donated as well as the valuation.
Diana also sent the following note:
"There were about 200 quilts in the closet. We finished the year distributing 569 quilts, a new record. We distribute 3 times per year. We appreciate all quilts donated by our Guild members. We also receive quilt donations from ladies who are not members of the Guild. This year we were fortunate to receive about 600 yards of fabric and 30 quilt tops from a woman in Prineville."
On this occasion I was not able to accompany them for quilt delivery, but I hope to do that for the next distribution. The last three photos are from a previous delivery to Saving Grace and Ronald McDonald House. Well done, quilters!
PS- I have added the January newsletter to the website.
