We are excited to announce to our members this year’s Mount Bachelor quilt challenge, which will be quilts made from black, white, grey and one additional color of your choice. Quilts should be completed and ready for display by the MBQG potluck in July and the MBQG Quilt Show in the Park in August.
Dimension criteria for your quilt to show in the Sister’s Quilt show is that your quilt should be a minimum of 160” all around dimension. Barb Fortman suggests that the maximum be 180”. The quilts display much better if they are all close in size and there are no oversized quilts.
If you have a question on color, look on a color wheel and see where your color falls. For instance, shades of pink will fall in the red category because it’s made of red and white. Orange will be its own category because it is made of red and yellow. Turquoise will be its own category because it is made of green and blue. Violet and purple combined are their own category. Yellows can expand to golds. Cream and beige are not white and would probably be considered either brown or yellow depending on the shade. Remember, you don’t have to use black, white, grey or an additional color; it’s just an option. The back of the quilt can be any color you want. Have fun with this!
If you have questions, please contact Barb Fortman at [email protected] or text her at 541-668-1468. She will be providing periodic updates and would also like to hear from you if you are planning on participating.
